Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan uploaded a question Kalimantan after his vice presidential candidate, Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin), was strongly protested by the Mayor of Balikpapan, Rahmad Mas’ud.
“Kalimantan is the lungs of Indonesia, we need to preserve its sustainability,” said Anies on his Instagram account, while sharing infographics about Kalimantan, Monday (25/12).
“We can make Kalimantan a green economic milestone, but still be the homepage of a developed and beautiful Indonesia,” he continued.
Previously, Muhaimin expressed pity for three cities in Kalimantan, namely Balikpapan, Pontianak and Banjarmasin.
Cak Imin, in the vice presidential debate held on Friday (22/12) said that the three cities did not receive enough attention and there was inequality in the midst of IKN development in East Kalimantan.
Confirmed separately, Rahmad denied Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin’s statement about Balikpapan City having difficulty in electricity and access to clean water, and damaged roads in the Vice Presidential Candidate (Cawapres) debate, Friday (22/12) evening.
“That’s wrong data, wrong. Before conveying it, (Cak Imin) should have looked at the data first. That’s why he said it was incorrect. The condition of Balikpapan City as a supporter of the National Capital City (IKN) is very good,” said Rahmad Mas’ud, in Balikpapan, Monday as reported by Antara.
Rahmad stated that the electricity supply in Balikpapan City is very sufficient and power outages rarely occur. If a power outage occurs, he said it occurs due to maintenance or non-technical problems.
The electricity supply in Balikpapan City is connected to the East Kalimantan Main Generating Unit (UIP KLT), which is an interconnected electricity network of three provinces, namely East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
UIP KLT has a total power of 2,369 megawatts, while the usage load reaches 1,545 megawatts. Rahmad said Balikpapan City still has excess power of up to 800 megawatts.
