Anies Baswedan’s IMB Polemic after the Plumpang Depot Fire, PDIP Criticizes, PKS Defends

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PDI Perjuangan politician, Gilbert Simanjuntak criticized the defense of Anies Baswedan’s support group in the issue of a building permit or IMB for Kampung Tanah Merah land, North Jakarta. The issue regarding the land was widely discussed again after the fire Pertamina Plumpang Depot on the evening of Friday, March 3, 2023.

Gilbert believes that if their defense of Anies Baswedan’s policy is correct, then they recommend that residents be allowed to rebuild the location of the fire. The DKI Jakarta DPRD member then said that Anies’ camp has a different mindset from his side.

“Our mindset is different, namely obeying the rules. The mindset of this group is how to be in power even though they break the rules and make people suffer,” said Gilbert in a written statement, Monday, March 6, 2023.

Gilbert then questioned what actions Anies’ defense group had taken against the residents of Tanah Merah Village who were victims of the Plumpang Depo fire. “Did they provide building materials and demand that the Pemprov DKI issue a new IMB if they feel that Anies’ policy is correct?” he said.

He also asked for relocation and comply with existing regulations. If there are no funds to buy land, he said, create an operational partnership or KSO with the land owner. Furthermore, it can be regulated through a Governor Regulation so that Sarana Jaya has a legal basis.

PKS defends Anies Baswedan

PKS Fraction Chairperson of DKI Jakarta DPRD Achmad Yani assessed that the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot, North Jakarta has now widened into a polemic. He poked fun at those who disputed the issuance of a temporary building permit (IMB) by former DKI Governor Anies Baswedan.

“Don’t be happy to make a scene by questioning the IMB issued during Governor Anies’ era, let’s talk with the data, so that we can wisely assess this disaster and we need to find a solution,” he said in a written statement, Monday, March 6, 2023.

Previously, PDIP and PSI politicians blamed Anies in the fire case at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot on Friday night, March 3, 2023. This is because local residents who obtained permits from Anies were among the victims of the fire.

Anies has indeed issued an area permit for residents of Kampung Tanah Merah, North Jakarta in October 2021. The area permit means that the permit is valid for one RT in one area. The issuance of permits is intended so that residents can access government facilities, even though their dwellings are on illegal land.

Yani assesses that the IMB for the area is not a permit for recognition of the building being erected. IMB area, he continued, to recognize the existence of residents who already have identity cards (KTP).

After all, said Yani, the placement of Kampung Tanah Merah residents on illegal land was valid before Anies issued the area permit. “Because previously residents had obtained legality of their existence in the form of KTPs issued during the era of Pak Jokowi as Governor of Jakarta,” explained this member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

For this reason, Yani thinks it is inappropriate to blame each other for the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot. According to him, various parties should find the best solution for PT. Pertamina and local residents. “It’s not right for us to blame who and who,” he defended Anies Baswedan.
