TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Spokesperson for the presidential candidate Anies Baswedan, Sudirman Said, is optimistic that the electability of the former Guntur DKI Jakarta will increase after the campaign officially starts. Sudirman made this statement in response to the results of the latest Kompas Research and Development survey which stated that Anies’ electability had dropped from 16.5 percent to 13.1 percent.
“It still goes up and down depending on the situation, and the number of provinces in Indonesia is still wide, so there are still niches,” said Sudirman when met in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
According to Sudirman, the results of the Kompas Research and Development survey became a whip not only for his party, but also for all parties. With the results of the survey, many parties began to consolidate in order to boost their electability level.
NasDem felt the coat tail effect because he brought Anies first
Party matter NasDem who actually received an increase in electability after supporting Anies, Sudirman considers this to be a natural thing.
“It’s understandable, because the NasDem has already formed a coalition first. So coat tail effect (suit tail effect) can go first. But after this I think PKS and Democrats will follow,” said Sudirman.
The Kompas R&D survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews and was held from January 25 to February 4 2023. The survey involved 1,202 respondents who were randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method in 38 Indonesian provinces.
The survey has a 95 percent confidence level and a research margin of error of ± 2.83 percent under simple random sampling conditions.
In the latest survey, Anies Baswedan’s electability was only 13.1 percent. This figure is down from a survey that was held in October 2022, where Anies had 16.5 percent electability.
The electability of the NasDem Party rose 3 percent
Meanwhile, for party electability, PDI Perjuangan still ranks at the top with electability of 22.9 percent. Then in the second and third positions respectively occupied by the Gerindra Party with 14.3 percent electability and the Golkar Party with 9 percent electability.
Then in fourth place is the Democratic Party with an electability of 8.7 percent. Furthermore, the Nasdem Party experienced a 3 percent increase in electability to reach 7.3 percent.
Anies Baswedan is a presidential candidate that will be supported by the NasDem Party, the Democratic Party, and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). The three parties will soon make a declaration of formation Change Coalition.
