“The Coalition for Change avoids forced marriages in determining the presidential and vice presidential candidates to be carried in the 2024 Presidential Election. The presidential candidate from the Change Coalition for Unity, Anies Baswedan, is very independent in determining who will accompany him as vice presidential candidate,” said Syahrial in his statement, Wednesday (16/ 8/2023).
He said that the determination of the vice presidential candidate in the Change Coalition went through a long process of communication and discussion. So, he said, he was strong and had strong togetherness and according to the coalition charter agreement, the determination of the vice presidential candidate was left to Anies as the presidential candidate.
“Forced marriage is not possible, because the Democratic Party, Nasdem Party and PKS have equal positions in the coalition. The candidate for presidential candidates discusses and determines the criteria that can be explained rationally to the coalition. hostage fellow coalition partners,” he said.
Furthermore, Syahrial also said that there was no dominant figure in the Coalition for Change. Because of that, he said that the determination of the cawapres in Anies’ coalition would run independently.
“It means that there is no central figure who is dominant and has the most powerful position. It is as if he is a demigod who can intervene in processes that are already underway in the coalition. Who is able to influence, tamper with, and control the coalition through instruments of power,” he said.
