Jakarta

Anies Baswedan visited one of the flood-affected areas in West Sumatra (Sumbar), namely Galapuang Village, Ulakan Tapakis District, Padang Pariaman Regency. On this occasion, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta symbolically handed over 200 basic food packages to residents affected by the flood at Surau Kalampaian, Galapuang Village.

“We are providing some assistance. We hope that it can relieve and strengthen it,” Anies told reporters at the location, as reported detikNorth SumatraSaturday (16/3/2024).

Anies said that behind this flood disaster there was a big lesson that would later have an impact on society. He also asked the public to be patient.

“God willing, we will give you strength, you will be given courage to get through this difficult time,” said Anies.

Anies admitted that apart from handing over aid, he would also hold meetings with community leaders in Padang, as well as Tarawih prayers at the Grand Mosque of West Sumatra. According to him, the main purpose of his visit to Padang this time was to express his gratitude for the trust given by the people of West Sumatra in the 2024 presidential election yesterday.

“God willing, we will continue to strive for change to occur in this republic,” he said.
