Anies Baswedan Urges Volunteers to Stay Focused on Making Changes Amid Coalition Dynamics

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The candidate for president of the Coalition of Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan opened his voice about the dynamics that occurred in his coalition, where the Democrat Party had just left the KPP because he felt betrayed.

Anies asked the volunteers to stay focused on the goal of making changes.

“To all volunteers, let’s continue to concentrate on our efforts to make changes,” said Anies in his statement, Saturday (2/9/2023).

Anies explained that he wanted Indonesia to be fairer and more advanced in the future.

According to him, the dynamics that are happening in the Coalition for Change at this time should not disturb their concentration.

“We want a fairer, more advanced Indonesia, and we focus on that, the dynamics that are happening at the moment don’t disturb our concentration,” he said.

Anies said there would be time to provide a complete explanation of the dynamics that occurred in the coalition.

Then, Anies asked the volunteers to be sincere in facing various responses.

“Later, there will be a complete explanation (response to coalition dynamics), now we are focused on making changes,” Anies explained.

“And remember we have to be sincere, meaning that we are praised, we don’t fly, we are insulted, we live it. God willing, our efforts will be facilitated,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Anies advised all volunteers to maintain solidity, stamina and enthusiasm to wade through the struggle going forward.

This is because the 2024 presidential election contest is still several months away.

“Keep the spirit, stay solid (for all, especially volunteers),” Anies added.

The Democratic Party has officially withdrawn its support for the candidate for president of the Coalition of Change for Unity Anies Baswedan.

This was conveyed after high-ranking Democrats met with the Chairperson of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) at Cikeas on Friday (1/9/2023).

“The Democratic Party has officially withdrawn support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Secretary of the Democratic Upper House Andi Mallarangeng said at a press conference.

Andi said the Democrats also officially left the Change Coalition for Unity.

This happened because Anies suddenly chose PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as vice presidential candidate.
