Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan a complaint was made to Bareskrim Polri Headquarters regarding the use of the acronym AMIN in 2024 presidential election.
The complainant is the Coordinator of the Indonesian Campus Da’wah Activist Forum, Umar Sangat. According to him, the use of the acronym AMIN so far is a form of alleged religious blasphemy.
“Because it is clearly said in the Islamic religion and even all religions in the Republic of Indonesia, ‘AMEN’, this has been approved as our acceptance or hope for our God,” said Umar to journalists at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, South Jakarta, Friday (22/ 12) quote detik.com.
He said that the acronym AMIN should not be used again by Anies in the 2024 presidential election. He wants no one to use religion for the sake of political contestation.
“This is a very useless politicization. Low politicization, in fact the politicization of religion is still carried out to obtain a public interest in this democratic era,” said Umar.
Meanwhile, AMIN National Team Spokesperson Bakhtiar Ahmad Sibarani responded casually. According to him, the complainant was just looking for sensation.
“We see that this complaint is just looking for sensation,” said AMIN National Team Spokesperson, Bakhtiar Ahmad Sibarani, quoting detik.com.
He explained that the acronym AMIN stands for Anies and Muhaimin. According to him, there is nothing wrong with that.
Moreover, he said, not a few people have the name Amin.
“There are many Amen in this world, report them all. It’s just something,” he said.
He wants to focus more on AMIN winning the 2024 presidential election rather than taking such complaints seriously.
