Anies Baswedan Compare Covid Transmission in Offices and Public Transportation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan comparing the potential for transmission of the Covid-19 virus in public transportation and in offices. According to him, the potential for transmission in public transportation is smaller, during the whole health protocol applied.

“We found that the risk of transmission in public transportation may be small as long as mask compliance and hand washing are maintained, while not talking during the trip,” Anies said during a virtual discussion on ABC Indonesia, Friday, August 21, 2020.

Meanwhile at offices Anies said, there was a tendency not to apply health protocols, for example removing masks when they arrived at the office. In fact, he said, chatting without wearing a mask with colleagues who were not known whether they were exposed without symptoms or not.

“Now in the office people take off their masks and chat. And we have a tendency if we know they feel safe, but we never know if the person is safe or exposed without symptoms,” he said.

In addition, continued Anies, in public transportation there are officers on guard to monitor the implementation of health prokotol, when someone violates it, there will be a reminder. Meanwhile, in the office, he said, this aspect of supervision was not optimal.

Anies said that there is a need to increase supervision in offices, because currently offices are included in one of the places with a high number of Covid-19 case findings. “So there must be increased supervision in offices,” he said.
