There is talk of candidate candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan-Cak Imin and candidate pair number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md will form a coalition in the second round of the presidential election against candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming. NasDem, the supporter of Anies-Cak Imin, emphasized that his party was reluctant to rush into building communication with other camps regarding plans to join forces in the second round.
“You see, this contestation is currently underway, right, because the contestation will only take place on February 14. In our opinion, there is nothing that we need to rush into carrying out political communication, because everything is possible that will still happen, right,” said Deputy Deputy Commissioner of NasDem Ahmad Ali or Mad Ali to journalists, Sunday (14/1/2024).
Mad Ali said that his party would still see the results of the vote on voting day. He doesn’t want any communication to be in vain if communication about the coalition plan is carried out from now on.
“So if today you rush to talk to Pak Ganjar, for example, with Pak Prabowo, then later it turns out that in the second round, Ganjar and Anies, for example, then what is the meaning of that conversation,” he said.
Mad Ali emphasized that his party is confident that Anies-Cak Imin will be able to win the presidential election in the second round. However, he said he continued to open political communication with other parties regarding other matters.
“Yes, now why do we want to rush this, even though we are optimistic that we will be winners, right? Yes, unless the candidate pair is pessimistic that they won’t be able to win, only then will we want to build communication, that’s another thing,” said Mad Ali.
“Well, on the other hand, of course, when we want to talk about communication, yes, I respect anyone who wants to communicate between one party and another, that is indeed needed. But for the party it is not something that needs to be rushed,” he added.
