Anies Baswedan and Team Finalizing Options for Vice Presidential Candidate

Team member of the eight Coalition for Change and Unity (KPP) Sudirman Said said Anies Baswedan and team eight is finalizing the options for a character to become a vice presidential candidate to accompany Anies.

“Pak Anies, assisted by a team of eight, is finalizing the options for potential partners,” Sudirman told CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (1/6).

Anies has a small team called team eight. This team comes from representatives of NasDem, PKS, and Democrats as well as Anies himself.

This team has a duty to help find and provide input for vice presidential candidates who will accompany Anies.

After this process was completed, Sudirman ensured that Anies would announce the character who would become his running mate. However, he did not reveal when Anies would announce it.

“After the final, we will find a good day to announce it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sudirman claimed that Anies and the chairman of the Democratic Party’s Upper House, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), did not discuss the technicalities of the declaration of the vice president during a meeting in Pacitan, East Java today. He said Anies and SBY only discussed strategic matters.

“In the meeting we discussed more strategic matters, not technically discussing the time of the declaration,” he said.

The names that have entered the Anies vice presidential exchange have recently been circulating in the public. Deputy Chairman of the PKS DPP Syuro Council Sohibul Iman said that there were three out of five names for Anies’ running mate who had narrowed down.

The three names are, Democrat Ketum Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), former Governor of West Java Ahmad Heryawan (Aher), and Governor of East Java Khofifah Indarparawansa.
