Anhée: too curious, she connects to a Facebook account that does not belong to her and is today prosecuted in court

A lady from the town of Anhée was too curious on July 13, 2017. She connected to a Facebook account that did not belong to her. She finds herself, nearly five years later, prosecuted before the Dinant criminal court. “My companion and I were in the world of skydiving at that time. That day, we were in Temploux and the weather was bad. I used his computer to go on Facebook. His profile (Editor’s note: that of the part civil) was displayed directly”, she explains.

The victim worked as an instructor for a free fall simulation company. The defendant’s companion was her superior. The latter had taken over his company computer after the dismissal of his employee in March 2016. “But the employee hadn’t deleted what was private when he returned this PC“, argues the defense.

The automatic login to his Facebook account was still active on this computer, a year and a half later. “So his profile showed up that day and I later logged back into his account with my phone. I just wanted to take a screenshot to show my mate that he wasn’t saying very nice things. towards him. I’m not a hacker”, said the Anhétoise.

This was identified because an automatic email was sent to the former employee when she logged into her account via her phone. The prosecution requested a simple suspension of the pronouncement, the civil party €1,000 in damages, for this “incursion into privacy.”
