Jonathan Worsley was excluded from participation in the final day of the PDC Winter Series after an argument with Michael van Gerwen on Saturday.
Worsley had pushed Van Gerwen on Saturday. For the Welsh darter, a lot went before that, he explained on Facebook. ” I spilled a drink on my shirt on Wednesday and put on another shirt in the toilet and then quickly went to my plate to write. On Thursday I got on my roof from the tournament director because I was wearing a shirt that is not allowed. I apologized for that and thought the stocking was finished. ”
However, that turned out not to be the case. Van Gerwen had to write (Friday), but arranged for someone else to do so who had a shirt and jeans on. So I went to the tournament director and asked what the difference was. The rules should be the same for everyone. However, I did not file a complaint, so this conversation should have remained between me and the tournament director. ”
However, the tournament director had gone to Van Gerwen with this story. ‘Van Gerwen came to my table today (Saturday, ed.) And started grumbling at me. He tried to intimidate me and called me a snitch. I explained to Michael that I was not interested in him. I just indicated that the rules should be the same for everyone. He kept intimidating me, after which I explained again. Everyone who listened agreed with me. ”
However, this explanation was not accepted by the world’s number one, who, according to Worsley, continued to intimidate. Worsley then gave the 31-year-old from Brabant a push. Van Gerwen subsequently reported this to security and tournament management.
While Michael knew he was provoking me. I get kicked out and he can just play, how is that fair? The PDC has not even spoken to security to hear both sides of the story. I was kicked out because I cannot talk to a tournament director in confidence. ”
