LOMBOK – Monster Energy Yamaha racer, Franco Morbidelliangry because the riders were asked to clean the dirty Mandalika Circuit on the first day of the pre-season test MotoGP 2022. Morbidelli emphatically stated that this is not the job of the drivers.
As is known, the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit was held from yesterday, Friday 11 February 2022 to Sunday 13 February 2022. However, on the first day, the test had to be delayed by 1 hour on a dirty track after heavy rain overnight.
The Mandalika Circuit track looks dusty and has sand. The track became muddy. As a result, the test was finally stopped so that the Marshals cleaned the surface of the track.
When Marshal cleared the track, a meeting between the drivers, Dorna Sports, and the FIM Safety Officer was held to find a solution to the problem. The drivers are then asked to cover a minimum of 20 laps to help clean the dirty circuit.

This decision immediately irritated a number of drivers, including Morbidelli. According to him, drivers should not clean the track. Because, this will be very dangerous for the driver and can result in an accident.
“The fact is that drivers are not supposed to do this job. They shouldn’t have cleaned this track,” said Morbidelli, quoted from Motorsport International, Saturday (12/2/2022).
“It’s dangerous to ride a motorcycle on the ground with a MotoGP bike. It’s very dangerous, it is dangerous. Nobody wants to get off track,” he said.
