A group of game enthusiasts is now suing Microsoft in San Francisco, US, to prevent the company from buying game publisher Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, it reports. Bloomberg law.
In the lawsuit, fans of the game write that the purchase would give Microsoft enough leverage at different levels of the gaming industry to shut out its rivals, limit production, reduce the number of choices for consumers, raise prices and otherwise restrict competition.
In a statement to Bloomberg Law, Microsoft defends the deal.
“This deal will increase competition and create more opportunities for gamers and game developers as we seek to bring more games to more people.”
