Il Government central has arranged the documents to make the financing of the works for the restoration of the organ of the collegiate church of San Giovanni Battista ad Angri. Communication with the parish priest don Enzo Leopoldo came from the words of Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano who went to the symbolic place of the Dorian city.

“I am the bearer of a culture that comes out of certain areas and goes in the direction of enhancing the territories – explains minister Gennaro Sangiuliano – we have a Christian culture, the cultural heritage and its uniqueness represent what we can give to the world. In every Italian municipality we have a treasure that I have the duty to protect and enhance. Culture creates the quality of people’s lives – concluded Sangiuliano – because through culture virtuous circuits are triggered and it is nice to have arranged all the necessary actions for the recovery of this wonderful organ”.

The organ remained in operation until the evening of November 23, 1980 during the earthquake that hit a vast area of the Campania region and has not been used since. The instrument is among the most impressive ofItalia and the restoration requires a complex work with a cost close to 300 thousand euros. “The commitment to the city does not pass through proclamations and the arrival of Minister Sangiuliano embodies our way of conducting a policy aimed at contributing to the rebirth of the territory and the resolution of the critical issues affecting it – explains the city coordinator Giovanni Vitale – the cohesion of the group, the work of the city councilors Vincenzo Ferrara and Salvatore Orlando and the determination in taking to heart the recovery of the organ in the collegiate church of San Giovanni Battista are a source of great pride for all of us at Fratelli d’Italia”.
