Angri, assault on the Commander of the Carabinieri during a football match: 2 arrests

In particular, at the end of the football match, serious disturbances occurred due to the arbitrary claim of some troublemakers of Angri to access the area belonging to the Matera fans to carry out violent actions. Fortunately, the intervention of the public order personnel made the violent ones desist, who dispersed and, apparently, moved away from the sports facility. Nevertheless, at around 5 pm, in the parking area in front of the stadium, about 150 Angri fanswho with an aggressive attitude awaited the outflow of the visiting fans. Also in this case, the military managed to make the subjects move away from the areas surrounding the stadium, verifying that the route that the guests would have to take was safe. Just when the outflow phase of the visiting fans was about to begin, suddenly, from an adjacent alley, a group of about 60/70 fans arrived, armed with bars and stoneswhich was throwing paper bombs and various blunt objects, including stones and glass bottles, towards the fans of the Matera team, also hitting the driver of the visiting team’s bus in the head with a stone.

Again, following the intervention of the military, the perpetrators of the assault dispersed in the streets adjacent to the stadium. And yet, for the umpteenth time, the violent reorganized and just 10 minutes later they carried out a new attack on the visiting fans from Piazzale Novi by throwing further firecrackers and several stones towards the away sector. Faced with the new intervention of the Carabinieri, some individuals dispersed, while a group of about 10 people faced the soldiers in a threatening mannerdemanding that they dismantle the garrison set up to defend the away fans. During the discussions aimed at convincing the remaining individuals to desist from their aggressive intentions, a subgroup of 3 people attacked the Commander of the Angri Station with clubs and beltshitting him in the arms, chest and back and causing him personal injuries. The aggressive action continued with the further throwing of paper bombs, stones and blunt objects by the members of the group. The investigations started promptly allowed to identify one of the authors of the attack on the Station Commander. The subject, who had become untraceable in the meantime, was subjected to an arrest warrant issued by the PM as a suspect in the crime. This position was defined separately with the application of a sentence upon request. Further investigations carried out by the Carabinieri then allowed them to identify numerous other individuals involved in the serious incident, with the consequent application of the precautionary measures carried out this morning against 8 of them
