The prizes will therefore be awarded on January 29, 2020. We will discover the winners of the Festival dedicated to the ninth art, in particular with the traditional Fauve d’or prize. In the meantime, here is a selection of three comics from 75 albums in the running, so 44 in the official selection. A great gift idea for the coming end of year celebrations.

Flipette & Venerate

A beautiful comic with a very current theme. That of young people and of an uncertain future. So how do you consider its place in such a complex context? Flipette is Clara and Vénère is Axelle. Two sisters who approach life in different ways. One wonders and the other grabs hold of life as it comes. Scriptwriter and illustrator Lucrèce Andreae paints us a portrait of a generation of today facing an uncertain future. Idealism, hope and resignation blend together.

To discover at the Delcourt editions, just here.

Aldobrando

Luigi Critone and Gipi collaborate and deliver us a powerful medieval tale. An enchanting atmosphere that follows the evolution of a hero into adulthood. Aldobrando is a tale far from the stereotypes of the genre. A beautiful quest for accomplishment with a master, a bad traveling companion and an adversary. The characters are nuanced and worked. You will have understood it is a beautiful journey in a medieval kingdom to be discovered at Casterman.

Beaten

It is an immersion within the “Blanchists”, a small group of neo-pagan influence and reputed to be close to the extreme right. Beaten plunges us into an anxiety-provoking hunting party that functions as a rite of passage for the Blanchists. The reader infiltrates it through the character of Camille, a young woman who returns to her native region for the death of her father. The atmosphere is palpable between hunting in the middle of nature and weapons. A comic strip signed Marine Levéel and Lilian Coquillaud published by 6 Pieds sous terre.
