Angoulême: 50 years of comic strip festival

Only a few days left before the opening of the 50th edition of the Angoulême International Comics Festival! 50 years of meetings, awards, workshops, shows and exhibitions. This year again, the organizers have gone into overdrive to concoct a program with small onions. The festivities will take place from January 26 to 29 with a special day on January 25 devoted to professionals.

Mangakas in the spotlight

For this anniversary, multiple exhibitions will be on the agenda. Julie Doucet, Philippe Druillet et Marguerite Abouet will be part of it. On the manga side, The attack of the Titans will hit the poster, while the mangakas This is Junji et Ryoichi Ikegami will be honoured. The Angoulême theater will host, on Friday January 27 at 8:30 p.m., a concert designed ” Jazz in Vienna Ana Carla Maza and Aude Picault“, a highlight during which the cello and the pen will be one. At last, Arthur de Pins will perform live on Saturday, January 28.

A plethora of artists

In addition to the essential dedications, visitors will be able to take part in workshops. They will have the opportunity to create a flip-book, learn to draw or even create a strip comic. Masterclass, conferences, readings and quizzes will also punctuate the festival. As for the authors, they are once again very numerous to have responded to the invitation of the Balcon du Sud-Ouest. Derf Backderf, Zep, Max de Radigues will be present on site alongside Benoit Peeters, Margaux Motin or Magali Le Huche. All that remains is to bet on who will obtain the coveted Fauve d’Or of this 50th ceremony…
