Adalberto Costa Júnior, Justino Pinto de Andrade and Abel Chivukuvuku promise to always act against human rights violations.
The leaders of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Junior, of the Democratic Bloc (BD), Justino Pinto de Andrade, and the coordinator of PRA-JA – Servir Angola, Abel Chivukuvuku, decided to unite to, in his words, take the MPLA out of power in 2022 elections in Angola.
In a joint statement on Thursday, 18, in Luanda, the three politicians demand that President João Lourenço speak out and take a decision on what is happening in Angola, with particular focus on four issues: the “massacre” of Cafunfo, the current state of democracy that is regressing for them, the situation of justice and the elections of 2022.
The opposition believes that the governance of the Angolan President until now is in itself an impulse and motivation for the increase of corruption in Angola.
The UNITA president says that João Lourenço does the opposite of what he says about fighting corruption in Angola.
“João Lourenço’s presidency is a negative practical example of encouraging corruption, when he insists on simplified public procurement, how to fight corruption and then being the worst example of denying this practice …”, maintains Adalberto Costa Júnior, who refers to public procurement that is published in the Diário da República.
“The IMF’s intervention in Angola is around US $ 4 billion, public procurement in only one of the elements exceeds the value of all IMF assistance, is there a fight against corruption?”, Asks the leader of the largest opposition party.
The fact that the Attorney General’s Office needs an endorsement from the Chief Executive to investigate is another example advanced by Costa Júnior in how selective the fight against corruption is and “an enormous restriction”
Another subject addressed at the tripartite conference was the investigation of American justice into the assets of the President of the Republic and his neighbors.
Justino Pinto de Andrade, president of the BD, says he does not question the veracity of the report.
“When publishing the information, you must have investigated why, I believe that much of what was published in the report is true and I am not surprised”, he maintains.
Regarding the events in Cafunfo, the three politicians demand that President João Lourenço guide the end of the persecutions and the “manhunt” that occur in that mud and other parts of the Angolan territory.
The joint declaration by the three forces also requires the release of all political prisoners in Lundas and the establishment of independent inquiries to ascertain what actually happened in Cafunfo and that the National Assembly urgently organize a CPI for what happened in Lunda North.
The president of UNITA says that this opposition union is here to stay.
From now on, Abel Chivukuvuku, Adalberto Costa Júnior and Justino Pinto de Andrade promise to act whenever there is a violation of the rights of citizens in Angola.
