The Hormadi must react this Friday evening (8:30 p.m.) after a painful defeat on Tuesday evening in Rouen (5-1). The Angloys face a team from Chamonix which is struggling to find its rhythm at the start of the season, with in particular two big setbacks (10-3) against Cergy last Saturday and Tuesday evening against Grenoble (2-7)
Severely but logically beaten Tuesday night in Rouen (5-1), David Dostal’s men had a very complicated trip to Normandy, which left its mark. In addition to the total domination of the reigning French champions, the Basques were not spared by physical glitches.
First the Finnish center Elias Karvonen, victim of an injury to his right hand after receiving the puck on a Rouen shot, then Nicolas Arrossamena. What did not help the affairs of the Angloys, already private on this match of Oskars Batna who, him, should be able to play this Friday evening against Chamonix.
Dissatisfied with the performance of his team, but also disappointed with the unfortunate play that took place against Rouen, David Dostal expects a reaction from his players at home. Much too penalized Tuesday (22 minutes penalty in total), the key word will be discipline, as announced by the English coach: “We made too many mistakes; against teams like Rouen, that does not forgive. We have to be aggressive but in a smart way, while producing our game. ”
A well-armed adversary
Opposite, the Pioneers still have no victory to their credit: four games, four defeats and the worst defense in the championship (25 goals conceded). But Chamonix – a great team on paper – can count on the return of one of the architects of the 2019-2020 season of the Magnus league: the formidable Finnish Samuel Salonen.
Third top scorer in the championship two years ago (24 goals) and author of 39 points in 30 games, the 27-year-old winger returns to Chamonix after an unconvincing stint in Norway. He is joined by another Finn, Jarkko Harjula, and Hungarian international János Vas, who knew the AHL (NHL antechamber) at a younger age.
There is no doubt that these three will be one to watch closely. Reduced by a few injuries, the Hormadi will have to be more creative offensively and realistic in the face of goal to destabilize Richard Sabol, the Chamoniard goalkeeper, capable of sparks, and his more than crumbly defense at the start of the season, to hope to win against a direct opponent in the race for the play-offs.
