Angler’s VW Bus Takes Unplanned Dip in Bavarian Pond

Burglengenfeld (Bavaria) – A leisurely excursion can literally fall through the cracks so quickly…

A 32-year-old angler spent the night on Good Friday at the Großer California-Weiher in Bavaria. When he woke up in the morning, he wanted to de-ice the windows of his VW bus. He started the engine of the car, which he overlooked: the handbrake of the VW was not applied.

Suddenly the car started rolling and dived straight ahead into the pond. The 32-year-old also jumped in to save his personal belongings. Then he called the fire department. Divers used a winch to fish for the submerged bus. So he was pulled ashore again.

Luck in disguise: the waters were probably not contaminated in the accident. And the bus was thoroughly flushed once – inside and out.
