“Angkot Drivers in Bogor City Hold Strike Over Free Biskita Policy”

Bus driver in Bogor City strike action. The demonstrating angkot drivers broke the mirrors of fellow angkots which were still operating and carrying passengers.

A demonstration of angkot drivers was held at the Bogor City Hall, Monday (17/4). The masses do sweeping and prohibiting public transportation drivers who don’t take part in the demonstration from carrying passengers.

Biskita Protest Demo Is Free

The angkot drivers protested the Bogor City Government’s policy of making it free Biskita Transpakuan. Angkot drivers admit that their income has decreased because passengers choose to take the Biskita Transpakuan because it is free.

“Free Biskita has a big impact, passengers who used to be 75 percent going to us (choosing public transportation) are now less than 50 percent, it’s dropped drastically. Because we also asked passengers why they chose to take Biskita, they answered because it’s free. Our income has dropped drastically. 50-70 percent,” said a bus driver, Ruli, at the Bogor City Hall, Monday (17/4).

The bus drivers insisted for Biskita Transpakuan to be paid. Angkot drivers claim that Biskita Transpakuan is free for this year.

“Our goal is one demand, to pay immediately that is Biskita. It’s been 1 year promisedhe said Biskita wants to pay, but the truth is that he hasn’t paid yet, it’s still free,” added Ruli.
