Angkasa Pura I boss is outspoken about the settlement of Garuda’s debt worth IDR 290 billion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Faik Fahmi said his company has extended the maturity period of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) debt repayments Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Garuda is recorded to have a debt of Rp 290 billion to Angkasa Pura I.

“We have indeed extended the payment period” debt. But indeed the amount is not large, namely Rp. 290 billion, which is the standing budget that we agreed on,” Faik said when met in the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Garuda’s debt to Angkasa Pura I represents aircraft landing operational debt. The number of arrears by the state-owned airline against the state-owned airport management company has increased in line with the ongoing payment of landing fees.

Faik said that the delay in the payment due date for Garuda’s debt was a form of Angkasa Pura I’s support for the airline as a fellow state-owned company. “We help as much as possible so that Garuda can survive and recovery from the difficulties faced,” said Faik.

Faik ensured that Angkasa Pura I had rescheduled the process of paying Garuda’s debt. “We reschedule, there are stages,” said Faik.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo or Tiko previously said that Garuda Indonesia’s overall debt had exceeded US$ 9.8 trillion, or almost equivalent to Rp. 140 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 14,247). The largest amount of debt comes from the obligation to pay aircraft leases to the lessor.

“Garuda’s debt is US$ 7 billion plus debt from lessors, so the total is US$ 9.8 billion actually. The debt to the lessor is the largest, which is US$ 6.3 billion,” said Tiko in a meeting with Commission VI DPR, last November 9.
