Wednesday 1is December, at the Jean-Mermoz complex, in the Roseraie district, in Angers (Maine-et-Loire), the atmosphere was sporty.
Police volunteers from Raid aventure association offered many activities to the young people present, such as boxing, climbing, football, rugby and even self-defense. “They are taught to use a pair of handcuffs as well as the basics of first aid and self-defense”, said Clotaire Lodjro, police officer in Hauts-de-Seine and co-organizer of the Prox’Raid aventure event.
Contacted by the City, the association set up this project called “Prox ‘” in order to create, through sport, contact between the police and the young people of the Rose Garden. The police officers present are volunteers, and come mainly from Paris.
Give a positive image of the profession of police officer
The police try, through these events, to renew the dialogue with the young people. “They tell us about their misunderstandings about our job and what they have seen on TV, explains Clotaire Lodjro. We try to give them a much more positive image of the police profession. “
Young people are delighted to be able to discover specific police activities and sports that they may never have practiced before.
Building on their success and their positive influence on young people, Prox’Raid aventure is increasingly in demand from cities across France. The town hall of Angers is already planning to renew the action in 2022.
