Olympique Lyonnais came close to being surprised by Angers SCO on the 30th day of Ligue 1. Indeed, a late goal from rookie Tetê allowed OL to win 3-2. meeting which was marked by a fact of play which particularly angered the Angevins.
In the 42nd minute, Sofiane Boufal was caught by the arm in the OL box by Lyon defender Malo Gusto. A flagrant fault which should logically lead to a penalty. And yet the referee of the meeting as well as the VAR, decided that there was no fault. A decision considered scandalous by the players, staff and leaders of the SCO.
“I went to see the referee after the match, I told him that there was contact. And he replied that football was a contact sport! It’s pathetic. For me , when there is contact in the area, there is a penalty “ declared the president of Angers SCO, Saïd Chabane.
We can understand the anger of the Angevins, because for once it is not a simple contact, but a manifest fault of Malo Gusto who retains Sofiane Boufal. The answer given by the referee is therefore totally ridiculous and above all off the mark.
