PARIS (AP) – Thanks to a penalty goal from midfielder Thomas Mangani down the stretch of the game, Angers secured a 1-1 draw against Brest on Sunday to remain undefeated at the start of the French league season.
Mangani has been relentless taking penalties in recent seasons and did not spare in the 79th minute by billing his 13th penalty of his 20 goals for the club. Romain Faivre’s penalty in the 61st minute gave Brest the lead.
Angers has 11 points in five games and is four units behind leader Paris Saint-Germain.
With goals from attackers Amine Gouiri and Kasper Dolberg, Nice beat Nantes 2-0 to place fourth.
The fifth Lens beat bottom Bordeaux 3-2.
The newly promoted Troyes came off the bottom of the table by beating Metz 2-0.
Y Montpellier superó 2-0 in Saint-Etienne.
