Dislodged from 2nd place in Ligue 2 by AS Saint-Etienne on Saturday, Angers wants to immediately regain this place. Alexandre Dujeux sent a message to this effect, before the 32nd day.
Ligue 2: Angers wants to dislodge Saint-Etienne from 2nd place
Angers has been on the Ligue 2 podium continuously, since the 10th day of Ligue 2. It has notably occupied the first two places for longer, i.e. for 18 days. The SCO was still 2nd until the 30th day of the championship. He was dislodged by AS Saint-Etienne, after the draw (1-1) conceded to Laval, also former leader of the championship. The Anjou club is now 3rd, but has the same number of points (54) as the Loire club.
Aiming to qualify directly for Ligue 1, Angers is determined to fight hard to return to 2nd place, passing Saint-Etienne. Alexandre Dujeux, coach of Sporting Club de l’Ouest, indicated this at the end of the 31st day.
“We’re in the game”he declared, in comments reported by West France. The final sprint of the race for promotion to Ligue 1 therefore promises to be tough, according to the Angevins technician. “There are 7 days left and we strongly believe in it”he assured.
Dujeux is satisfied with the point taken against Laval
Remember that Angers was led by Stade Lavallois, from the 4th minute of play. But the Maine-et-Loire club had the necessary resources to come back to the score (1-1), in the 87th minute. Alexandre Dujeux therefore does not spit on the point snatched in the last moments of the match.
“I have the feeling that we saved the furniture against Laval. We take this point and we will continue the adventure”, confided the SCO coach. It should be noted that ASSE and Angers will no longer meet in the last 7 remaining matches. The Greens won both confrontations: first leg (2-0) and return (0-3) this season.
