A 41-year-old woman has admitted to being the mother of two newborn babies found dead in Maine-et-Loire in February. She was indicted for this double infanticide.
The bodies of two newborns were found in garbage bags under a pile of wood in Ombrée d’Anjou (Maine-et-Loire), on February 19. Designating herself as their mother, a 41-year-old woman was indicted on Thursday, June 16.
According to Eric Bouillard, prosecutor of Angers, the person concerned admitted her involvement during her police custody which began on Tuesday, June 14. She did not say that she killed her children, but that she “hugged them tight”.

The magistrate indicated that “it may look like death by suffocation” but the fact that the bodies were found in an advanced state of putrefaction “does not allow us to be more precise”.
The mother’s hearing suggests that she gave birth alone, after two unwanted pregnancies. “The father from whom she is now separated did not know that she was pregnant” and is not blamed, according to Eric Bouillard.
No criminal record
The dates of birth and death of the newborns are not known, but their mother lived for ten years in the house where their bodies were found by the new inhabitants.
Today, the respondent no longer lives in Maine-et-Loire. Mother of an adult child, she is integrated, has a permanent job and has no criminal record.
