Angers: a dragon landed in the Terra Botanica plant park

He currently has no name. A giant dragon, made up of plants, was installed this Thursday, May 19, at the Terra Botanica plant park, in Angers (Maine-et-Loire). This mosaiculture, made up of 18,000 plants installed on a metal structure, is twelve and a half meters long and six meters high. It is “the largest in France, and perhaps in Europe” , according to Pierre Watrelot, director of the plant park.

The dragon will not be Terra Botanica’s only mosaiculture: a unicorn and a giant octopus will integrate it respectively in June and July. These three structures are intended to return in the coming seasons. They allow you to give “body and density in the park, to show that the natural can take other forms”, explains Pierre Watrelot.

These mosaicultures were produced by Structural 3D, a company from La Jubaudière (Beaupréau-en-Mauges). A desire to “be part of a local anchorage”, emphasizes the director of the plant park.

Terra Botanica will host other novelties for the 2022 season. From July 14, nocturnal wanderings will take the public on a journey, between light effects and sound atmosphere. Called “Terra nocta”, these immersive tours will be free.
