Anger in Liverpool over partying football fans

Liverpool football club condemns supporters who have celebrated after the championship and who have massively ignored the corona measures. Last night, supporters took to the streets for the second straight night to celebrate the first league title in thirty years.

They did that at the Liver Building, which is partly owned by the owner of the rival football club Everton. Party fans shot fireworks at the building. The fire brigade had to be involved to put out a fire on a balcony.

“Thousands of people ignored distance rules yesterday and endangered public health,” police and Liverpool football club said in a joint statement. “This is unacceptable.” The club wants to celebrate the championship party at a later date, if this can be done without health risks.
