A video clip was released on social media that allegedly documented the assault by Egyptian policemen on Kuwaiti students in Alexandria.
Al-Hurra could not verify the authenticity of the video, which sparked a torrent of comments from inside and outside Egypt.
In the video, taken from one of the balconies, two policemen grab a young man in sportswear and forcefully drag him, before two colleagues join them as they grab another young man and hit him hard on the back of the head, while the video maker shows amazement at what was happening before his eyes.
After him, some policemen gathered and took the two young men away.

In another tweet expressing his position on what happened, al-Matar wrote: “The way the security authorities have dealt with the videos that have been published of assaults on our students without resistance and humiliation in front of the world requires that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns this unprofessional behavior, follow them and hold them accountable”.
He also called on the Kuwaiti foreign ministry to summon the Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, saying, “I will include a message to the National Assembly for the next session to talk about the foreign ministry’s procedures.”
How the security authorities have dealt with the published footage of the assault on our students without any resistance from them and humiliating them in front of the world requires the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
1- Condemn this unprofessional behavior and pursue their responsibility
2- Convocation of the Egyptian ambassador in Kuwait

In a third tweet, Al-Matar provided details he gleaned from the “Kuwaiti Students Union in Egypt,” who confirmed to him, as he said, that their colleagues had indeed been attacked by policemen in Alexandria.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai confirmed for its part Publication The students revealed that the matter was “related to breaking up a fight.”
The newspaper quoted Egyptian sources as saying that the circulated video concerned a fight between students.
Al-Rai sources say that the police received a report from officials of one of the student complexes in Alexandria about the occurrence of a dispute between some Kuwaiti students, so “the security men moved to separate them, but the clash continued , the security had to arrest them and transfer them to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Smouha area,” the newspaper’s expression was exhausted.
Also, the newspaper quoted Kuwaiti Ambassador In Egypt, Ghanem Al-Ghanem, stating that the embassy is following the case, indicating the intervention of several embassy officials, including the lawyer, to conduct investigations with the students.
