Original soundtrack composer Angelo Badalamenti passed away on December 11 at the age of 85. He was particularly known for creating the series’ most iconic music Twin peaks by David Lynch, with whom he has collaborated throughout his career.
Composer Angelo Badalamenti, born March 22, 1937, died at home at the age of 85, December 11, 2022. Badalamenti is a long life dedicated to music for this composer of great works, such as the original horror film tapes A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (1987), movie The city of lost children (1995) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, The beach (2000) by Danny Boyle or even A long engagement Sunday (2004) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, to mention only these works. We also owe him the music for Shirley Bassey, with Nina Simone I have no hard feelings (1966), starring Peggy Sue Let me down easily (1977), or encore Enrico Macias.
In 1992 he also composed the theme for the opening ceremony of the Barcelona Olympic Games. The same year, she worked with Paul McCartney at Abbey Road studios and participated in the creation of the song Is it raining in London?, unreleased song that won’t have an official release. In 1998 she participated in the recording of the cover of the song by George Gershwin A foggy day David Bowie couple.
But it is with the American director David Lynch that a long and fruitful collaboration was born over the years: Blue velvet (1986), Mulholland Drive (2001), Badalamenti signs the most ethereal soundtracks of the works of David Lynch and is awarded in the early 90s with a Grammy Award for the “best pop instrumental performance” for the Lynch series theme, Twin peaks.
