Angelina Jolie steps down as United Nations Special Envoy for Refugees

After 21 years of faithful service, actress Angelina Jolie steps down as special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), AFP reported.

“After twenty years of working in the United Nations system, I feel the time has come to work differently and engage directly with refugees and local organisations,” the actress said in a statement released by the UNHCR. She does not indicate what her future initiatives will be.
