Jakarta, Insertlive –
Angelina Jolie opens her voice regarding the war between the Hamas militia group and Israel that is taking place in Palestine. However, he was actually criticized by netizens.
Netizens flooded Jolie’s personal Instagram comments column and did not accept the actress’ attitude, which was considered to be playing it safe. In a statement uploaded to Instagram, Angelina Jolie opened her statement by regretting the terrorist attacks in Israel.
“Like millions of people around the world, I spent several weeks disgusted and angered by the terrorist attacks in Israel, the countless deaths of innocent civilians, and wondering how best to provide assistance.” wrote Angelina Jolie, Saturday (28/10).
“I also pray for the speedy return of every hostage, and for the families who are enduring the unimaginable pain of the killing of loved ones. Especially, children were murdered and many children are now orphans,he continued.
Even though Jolie emphasized that what happened in Israel was an act of terrorism, she also did not justify the bombing in the Gaza Strip which caused the deaths of civilians. Especially, said Jolie, because Gaza residents cannot evacuate themselves and do not have access to food and water.
“What happened in Israel was an act of terror. But, that cannot justify the innocent lives lost in the bombing of the civilian population in Gaza who have no way to leave, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, not even the fulfillment of the human right to cross the border to seek refuge,” he said.
Angelina Jolie later said that she had worked in the humanitarian sector for 20 years, mainly focusing on refugees seeking protection due to war.
Netizens regret Jolie’s actions in taking a neutral position, even though the actress claims to be someone who works for humanity.
“20 years of working for refugees and you still can’t call this genocide? Disappointing! #freepalestina #ceasefirenow,” wrote netizens.
“You’re playing it safe. Very disappointed with you. You have to cancel,” said another netizen.
“YOU KNOW THE TRUTH BUT YOU SIDE THEM? Educate yourself! Read the history! You should be an example to us all..very disappointed with your stance,” criticized another netizen.
