Elaf: American actress and director Angelina Jolie on Saturday appealed to her 14 million Instagram followers to donate to Turkey and Syria after devastating earthquakes killed thousands earlier this week.
“My heart goes out to the people of Syria and Turkey,” she wrote, commenting on a video from amidst the devastation sent by a friend from Syria.
The Hollywood star added that she had made a donation and hoped “others will consider giving as well” to allow rescue teams “to continue their work of rescuing the victims.”
The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras, affected more than 13 million people in 10 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Sanliurfa.
Several countries in the region, including Syria and Lebanon, felt the strong tremors that hit Turkey in less than 10 hours.
