Johan Derksen is under fire after he Today Inside initially stated that fifty years ago he “put in” a candle on an unconscious woman. Yesterday, the television fame returned to this: he would have put the candle between his legs and not in something. According to Angela de Jong, that statement is implausible. “We have all misunderstood,” she says cynically in the talk show Op1.

What bothers Angela the most is the laughter at the table after Johan’s unveiling. After all that’s happened around The Voice of Holland she thinks she can’t. “I find it really disgusting to laugh at those women who finally have the courage to step forward,” says the opinion diva.

Despite her criticism, she was Today Inside announced as guest for today. In Op1 she tells her that she will just go, even though her husband advises against it. “He said, ‘Don’t go, you’re crazy. You shouldn’t sit there and legitimize it.'” But Angela stands her ground. “If I’m brave enough here to criticize them, and I’m with good morning Netherlands to criticize them, then I have to sit there and say that criticism right to their face.”

She does not think it necessary for the program to be taken off the pipe. “I think it’s good that there is still a program in the Netherlands where a different sound can be heard. Where it is not so woke. Where politically incorrect things are said. Some of the people identify with it.” She does emphasize that not everything is allowed in the popular television program. “What happened there last night was really impossible.”
