Even in the golden years of television it was rare to become famous with a single sentence. Instead, it happened to Angela Chianello, from Palermo, who became an “influencer” thanks to the phrase: “There is no Coviddi”. What’s more: his words have even become a (questionable) catchphrase of the summer.
A step back: Angela Chianello was in her normal day as a bather on the beach par excellence of the Sicilian capital: Mondello. In this dimension of everyday life she was interviewed by a television crew of the broadcast of Barbara D’Urso. Expressed with Sicilian linguistic vivacity the now well-known “There isn’t Coviddi”, bounced from TV to newspapers, to social media.
To understand the dimensions of the phenomenon, just think that Angela Chianello, who landed on Instagram with the profile @angelachianello_real, already has over 140,000 followers – with less than twenty posts.
Became – in spite of himself? – a “testimonial” of the denial theses of the virus, after receiving attacks and insults and having aroused controversy, Chianello then tried to rectify his position, explaining that he did not want to deny the existence of the virus at all, but that in the context in which there was – according to him – Covid-19.
The parodies of his words, however, meanwhile are popular on the net. And she continues to provide some to her followers – her posts include «Oggi ammare» and «Buongiorno da Mondello».
