The famous writer, screenwriter and publicist Angel Wagenstein became the winner of the “Legend 2020” award for overall creativity and contribution to European and world cinema, the laureate confirmed for DUMA, who was notified of the award by a letter from the management of the International Film Festival “South East European film festival – SEE A PARIS FF”. The prominent intellectual is the author of 50 screenplays for films shot in several countries. His film “Stars”, shot in 1959 by Konrad Wolff, won the Special Prize of the Cannes Festival Jury. Among his most famous screen works are “Supplement to the ZZD”, “Goya”, “Stars in the Hair, Tears in the Eyes”, “Boris I”. He is the author of the novels “Isaakovo Pentateuch”, “Far from Toledo” and “Goodbye, Shanghai”, the last two – with international awards. His books have been translated into French, English, Russian, German, Spanish and Italian.

Bulgarian culture was also honored with another high distinction from the same forum. The poet Zahari Ivanov, one of the founders and chairman of the Association of Writers from Southeast Europe, receives the tenth anniversary award “SEE personality award 2020” at the festival, BNR reported.

Zahari Ivanov is a writer and translator, born on May 9, 1946 in the village of Batanovtsi, Pernishko. Having completed his higher education in Kiev, Ukraine, Ivanov worked as an editor, program manager, observer at BNT, editor at “Bulgarian Animation” and “Bulgarian Video”. After 1990 until the beginning of the new century, he lived mostly abroad. Among his more famous books are “Eyes in Love”, “Memory of Silence”, “Alphabet of Feelings”, “Echo from the Sunset”, “Vanished Island”. He has translated more than 25 books from Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Serbian and English. In November 2019, in Sofia, Zahari Ivanov founded the first Association of Writers from Southeast Europe, which connects authors from 14 countries. The award was given to him precisely because of his efforts to build bridges between the cultures of the countries of South-Eastern Europe.

“SEE A PARIS FF” is the biggest Balkan art festival not only in France, but also in Western and Central Europe. It takes place every year in Paris and Berlin and has presented examples of Balkan cinema for ten years. Prominent artists from different countries of the Balkan Peninsula have received awards from it, including the actress Tsvetana Maneva, BNR adds. For the first time, the awards will not be presented at a solemn ceremony, but online, for obvious reasons, according to the organizers of the forum.
