Ángel Orensanz will once again host New York Fashion Week

In a continuation of what has been happening in recent years, and saving the interruptions caused by the pandemic, The New York synagogue of the Huesca sculptor Ángel Orensanz will once again host the New York Fashion Week by The Society next September, corresponding to the collections that the main designers and emerging talents will air in the spring and summer of 2023.

The celebrations will take place between Thursday 8 and Sunday 11 September, with an opening session on the first day, two on Friday and four on Saturday and Sunday.

This year there was already fashion week in the Big Apple: it was last February, with parades included in the aforementioned headquarters of the Ángel Orensanz Foundation (AOF). Those were great days for creators like Mike Eckhaus Latta and Zoe Latta, Telfar, Connor McKnight, Saint Sintra, Elena Vélez, Judy Turner or Loring, among many others. Parades by Phor Popes, Kenneth Barlis and Saima Chaundry were especially enjoyed at AOF headquarters. “The truth is that when fashion people arrive, the synagogue is filled with a special light, a unique atmosphere. We are used to receiving big celebrities, but the days of Fashion Week have a unique flavor, ”explained the Larués-born artist from Paris, who has spent a good part of the pandemic in his residence in the Marais district, with occasional returns to New York.

Orensanz also considers himself a citizen of SoHo: not in vain has he been a regular resident of the city that never sleeps for more than four decades. “New York has something inimitable; eye, just like the province of Huesca, where I was born and where the museum that bears my name is, in Sabiñánigo. New York City has given me great moments, and I have tried to reciprocate with quality work.” The sculptor has works all over the world, and he continues to frequently participate in group shows both in Paris and in New York City itself.

The synagogue has been the scene of numerous filming, as well as being a regular center of celebrations for New York’s high society. One of the magical moments that the place experienced in the months of restrictions due to the pandemic was the recording of an audiovisual for MTV that reunited Lady Gaga with the veteran crooner Tony Bennett.
