Ángel Garrido is working to give even more step to VTC

“The Community of Madrid is promoting a new regulation to guarantee the coexistence of taxi and VTC”.

This was explained at the Madrid Assembly by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructure, Ángel Garrido, who has detailed the issues that will be incorporated into the new regulations.

“Given the lack of response from the central government, we have made the decision to carry out the necessary regulation of the VTC sector, through an amendment to the Law on the Organization and Coordination of Urban Transport in the Community of Madrid” , Garrido explained.

Whoever left the Popular Party and switched to Ciudadanos in order to occupy the transport chair has always been on the side of the VTC controlled by the jet set and its revolving doors.

“The Royal Decree of 2018, with which Minister Ábalos wanted to guarantee the balance between taxis and VTC, far from solving competition problems, which revealed that the measures it included were insufficient and inappropriate,” Garrido stressed , who recalled that “this decree does not oblige the autonomous communities to regulate this sector, but only enables them to modify some issues, which is what the Community of Madrid is going to do.”

Thus, one of the main objectives of the new regulation will be to introduce the activity of Transport Vehicles with Driver (VTC) as discretionary passenger transport.

On March 30 of this year, the Community of Madrid requested the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, José Luis Ábalos, a request for public money grants for VTC companies, like Uber and Cabify.

It is well known that the losses of these companies are not as a result of the coronavirus crisis or the state of alarm, but that they have been dragging them for almost a year.

The lack of response by the Community of Madrid to the problems of taxi drivers is inexplicable, when the taxi sector only wants to comply with the law.

Taxi drivers are clear that it is “a plot formed by financial interests, cronyism and revolving doors that aims to end the traditional taxi as we know it today.”

2 years without applying the regulations

The Community of Madrid has not fulfilled its obligation established in Decree Law 13/2018 for two years, which has to establish the pre-contract conditions, the request for services, the minimum routes, or the technical specifications of the vehicle.

During all this time the Community has refused to apply the regulations and continues to propose a coexistence between equals, between VTC and Taxi, when the legislation does not establish it.

HOW FAR DOES THE CORRUPTION OF POLITICIANS GO IN THIS COUNTRY?
