Angel Di Maria returned to Portuguese Premier League champions Benfica on Wednesday for a second stint for the Argentine winger with the team he started his journey in Europe with and wore his shirt from 2007 to 2010.
Benfica published a video to announce the inclusion of the “35-year-old” player and said: Welcome back Di Maria.
Reports indicated that the contract period will be one year in a free transfer deal.
Di Maria left Benfica to Real Madrid, where he won the league, in addition to two titles in the Spanish Cup and the Champions League.
Di Maria played last season with Juventus after seven successful years with Paris Saint-Germain.
Di Maria will join compatriot Nicolas Otamendi. The duo won the World Cup with Argentina last year.
