Between Manchester United and Liverpool, rivalry and aversion rage. But this Tuesday, a completely different atmosphere reigned at the Anfield stadium in England. And for good reason. Spectators in the stands paid a fine tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, after the tragic announcement of the death of their newborn baby.
Thus, in the 7th minute of the match, a nod to the number 7 sported by the fivefold Ballon d’Or on his jersey, the applause of all the supporters echoed in the stadium. At the same time, the kop sang the club anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, in support of the Portuguese footballer and his family.

“Only Love Matters”
Real Madrid, where Cristiano Ronaldo spent nearly a decade (2009-2018), also expressed their support, saying the Spanish club are “joining in the pain of the whole family”. Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick, meanwhile, said there are “more important things in life than football”. “The whole team, the whole club is with him. It is clear that he must be where he is now with his family.

Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, also sent a tender message to the couple. “I love you and my heart is with you. May God take care of everything and give you the strength to overcome this ordeal. Our little angel is already on her father’s lap and our little girl who is here, strong and healthy, will teach us a little more every day that only love counts”.
