Asunción, March 27 (EFE) .- A concert canceled due to a storm put Paraguay at the center of viral stories, including one of the last photos of the late drummer Taylor Hawkins and the bitter dispute between rapper Doja Cat and her followers .
Paraguayan fans went from disappointment at the cancellation due to bad weather of the Asunciónico 2022 festival, scheduled for last Tuesday and Wednesday, to the joy of seeing several of their idols up close.
Scenes of Machine Gun Kelly singing with his girlfriend Megan Fox and her band in Asunción have multiplied on social networks.
The hotel entrance was the stage chosen by the artist to offer an impromptu show to hundreds of his followers.
“And this is how we turn bad news into amazing news,” Kelly tweeted alongside a video of her performance.
But perhaps one of the images that most touched the hearts of Internet users was that of Taylor Hawkins, drummer for Foo Fighters, together with Emma Sofía, a 9-year-old girl who played her drums in front of the hotel where the Seattle band was staying.
Hawkins appreciated the gesture of those who came to greet them, but it was the photo that captured his smiling face next to that of a proud Emma Sofía that went viral.
After learning of the musician’s death last Friday in Bogotá, Paraguayans remembered his time in the country.
“There are no words to describe how we feel. We are devastated by the news of the passing of Taylor Hawkins,” wrote the parents of the little drummer.
Miley Cyrus, who would also participate in the show, could not get to Asunción after her plane was hit by lightning in the middle of Tuesday’s storm, she said on Twitter.
The aircraft had to land at an alternate airport and continued on to Brazil. From there, Cyrus posted a video in which she dedicated her a cappella performance of “Stay” to the Paraguayans.
Another was the story for singer Doja Cat, who complained that “not even one” person was waiting for her outside the hotel when she left the day after her failed performance.
The trills, which the artist later erased, infuriated the followers who allege that they did approach the place on Tuesday.
Versions also circulated in networks and media that the singer organized a private party in a bar in the Paraguayan capital and that she demanded that no one look her in the eye.
The anger has been such that even the historic former Guaraní goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert spoke: “Doja Cat you have not won anything, PARAGUAY THE BEST,” he wrote on Twitter.
Others declared the artist “public enemy #1” of Paraguay.
The Los Angeles star chose in the midst of the controversy to change her name on Twitter and responded in one of her trills that this was not for her and that she would leave, which fueled speculation about whether it was a threat to leave music. EFE
