McIntyre, ranked 16th in the world in golf, has been giving regular lessons to fellow Scot Murray since he hung up his tennis racket.

‘I thought he was a good guy for someone who didn’t play that much,’ McIntyre said of Murray’s golf skills at Wentworth last month.

‘I was very impressed with his play. He’ll be scratched soon.’

Murray’s X social media bio, formerly known as Twitter, currently reads: ‘I played tennis. I play golf now.’

Mike Dixon Golf Day was created to celebrate the life and career of ‘Dico’, the Daily Mail’s legendary tennis correspondent who passed away in January.
