TAMPA, Florida – Yankees player Miguel Andújar was recently held up at gunpoint in the Dominican Republic, according to multiple reports, but the infielder/outfielder is still expected to arrive in time for the start of Spring Training.

Andújar, 27, was assaulted during the incident at his San Cristóbal farm, according to ESPN Deportes.

“We have been in contact with Miguel,” a Yankees spokesman said Friday. “We are still gathering details and information on the reported incident and yes, we do expect it to be reported sometime this weekend in Tampa.”

Three shots were reportedly fired and another individual on the property was hit in the finger. The assailants took a watch valued at $7,000 and a sports utility vehicle belonging to the player’s father, according to Listin Diario. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Yankees players are due to report to George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa on Sunday.

Andújar is set to enter this spring in the competition for a roster spot. The runner-up for AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2018, beaten out by Shohei Ohtani, Andújar has been limited by injuries to 78 games the past three seasons.
