Andrzej Kosendiak has headed the NFM since its foundation in 2014. Previously, he was the director of the institution’s predecessor, the Wrocław Philharmonic. In early September, he resigned from the NFM, and was replaced by Olga Humeńczuk.
On Monday, NFM spokeswoman Agnieszka Frei announced that Kosendiak would take over the position of artistic director of the Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans.
The festival’s current artistic director, Giovanni Antonini, will continue to work with the NFM as part of an artistic residency, Frei said. “This will allow us to enjoy concerts by this wonderful musician and his excellent ensemble Il Giardino Armonico more often than before,” the spokeswoman added.
The Wratislavia Cantans Festival, organized by the NFM in Wrocław, is the largest and most prestigious event dedicated to classical music in Lower Silesia. The 59th edition of this festival ended on Sunday.
