Based on the gathered evidence, he outlines the responsibilities of the ND government, does not leave the ruling SYRIZA unarmed and requests that the investigation be turned into a preliminary investigation committee. Koumundourou is not in agreement with PASOK’s manipulations and has already clarified that with its conclusion, SYRIZA-PS does not ask for a preliminary investigation, but for the case to go directly to Justice with only the lifting of the immunity of the former Minister of Transport of the ND Kostas Ah. Karamanlis, who, according to SYRIZA, “has committed the offenses by omission and the law on the responsibility of ministers does not apply to him”.
The three PASOK-KINAL MPs participating in the investigative committee, Milena Apostolaki, Giorgos Nikitiadis and Apostolos Panas, are asking for a judicial investigation to assign responsibilities through the formation of a preliminary investigative committee. They consider that a further criminal investigation of the case is required for the ministers of Transport and Infrastructure under the SYRIZA government (Christos Spirtzis) and ND (Kostas Ach. Karamanlis), for responsibilities regarding the non-completion of the works related to the disputed contract 717/2014, ” which is directly causally related to the tragic accident in Tempe (…)”.
PASOK directly accuses the Mitsotakis government of “a cover-up, through the non-substantial investigation of the case and in particular the possible existence of criminal responsibilities for political figures”.
The confrontation between Harilaos Trikoupis and Maximos was particularly intensified with the statement of the president of PASOK-KINAl, Nikos Androulakis, at noon on Monday, March 11, 2024, the day on which the work of the Commission of Inquiry was scheduled to be completed. THE Nikos Androulakis he noted that from the beginning the governing majority made it clear that its goal was not to reveal the truth about the crime of Tempe, but “to cover up the responsibilities of its ministers and the “blue children” of OSE and ERGOSE”. In fact, the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, characteristically stated that “the conclusion, submitted by New Democracy, is a monument of shame and insult to the Greek people”.
Late in the afternoon of the same day, the New Democracy Press Office issued a statement stating the following:
“PASOK-KINAL president Nikos Androulakis insists on irresponsible and unsubstantiated criticism. Initially, his party, instead of drawing up a comprehensive conclusion using testimonies and documents on the causes of the Tempe accident, chose to proceed with a short announcement and then Mr. Androulakis tries to criticize the governing majority with insults and characterizations. For the ND to conclude: “We will not follow him. The investigation of the truth is not a field of oppositional criticism and is not served by petty party flares and communication fireworks.
We call on PASOK-KINAL to put aside populism and to serve the institutional processes with credibility and democratic conscience, away from hypocritical behavior”.
