Andriy Shevchenko will not take over the Polish national team. The Ukrainian made a decision about the future

Andriy Shevchenko was fired from Genoa on Saturday after only two months of work. The Ukrainian was associated with taking over the Polish national team, but as reported by Nicolo Schira, he himself decided to take a longer break.

The former striker successfully led the Ukrainian squad. With this team, he did not advance to the World Cup in Russia, but reached the EURO 2020 quarter-finals with him. After the tournament, he decided to leave his position.

In November, he took up a job at the club for the first time. Genoa decided to hire him, which gave him a contract until 2022. However, Shevchenko could not change the team’s game.

Of the eleven games in his new role, he has won only one, in the Coppa Italia against Salernitana. In the league, his team scored just three points in nine games.

For this reason, the Ukrainian was dismissed on Saturday. The journalist of “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, Nicolo Schira, informed that PZPN was interested in employing Shevchenko.

However, this topic is no longer relevant. The trainer himself does not intend to take another position at the moment. A longer break, he decided, would do him best.

Adam Nawałka is considered to be the favorite to become the selector. The final decision of Cezary Kulesza should be known within the next few days.
