ANDRITZ supplies complete electromechanical equipment for the Kiru hydropower plant in India

Graz – June 29, 2020. The international technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from the Indian utility company CHENAB VALLEY POWER PROJECTS (P) LTD to supply the complete electromechanical equipment for the Kiru run-of-river power station (624 MW) on the Chenab river in the Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir district, India received. The contract is worth over 50 million euros.

The order includes the design, manufacture, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of four units (turbines and generators), additional electrical equipment and mechanical equipment as well as a 400 kV GIS with associated 400 kV grid connection equipment. The order is carried out by the Indian ANDRITZ subsidiary with its ultra-modern production facilities in Mandideep (near Bhopal) and Prithla (near Faridabad).

The Kiru hydropower plant focuses on the energy shortage in northern India. It will bring clean renewable energy to rural areas and support the region’s industrial development.

By securing this prestigious contract, ANDRITZ has once again demonstrated its position as a leading provider in the Indian hydropower market.
