Noppert is not in good shape. On Saturday against NEC (1-1) he showed signs of the goalkeeper who played for the Dutch team in Qatar at the end of 2022, and in the previous weeks he scored several goals. Van Wonderen was already with Noppert before national coach Ronald Koeman announced the final selection. “Of course we discussed it with him. That it could well be the case that the national coach would not choose him. How do we deal with that?”, the trainer notes. Football International.
“Andries would benefit from taking some distance, after everything that has happened. That is possible now, now that he has not been selected. We will therefore keep him outside the club for a while next week. To reset things, get fresh and get back on track. to become the Andries that he was.” Van Wonderen hopes that Noppert can clear his head. “It is of course not the case that you can take a pill and go back to cleaning the roof. Andries is super motivated and guilty.”

“He’s wearing a penalty suit, but that’s not all that important. It’s about how we get him back up to standard. That doesn’t just apply to him, but to more players. How do we get everyone to their maximum?”
